Lake Louise
These scenes must have been taken about a bazillion times before. Now, you get to see them again!
What a marvelous spectacle! As you can see, the ice hasn't yet cleared from the lake. Overheard one of the tour narrators say that one good rain and it would be gone. The lake is really close to the parking lot, so it's not a challenge to reach it. A beautiful multi-story chalet is located just to the right of the picture, close to water's edge. Must be some kind of sight from those upper rooms.
Gary Sez: It is no wonder that all the Canadians I've run into in the USA have remarked about what a bargain our National Park system is. I sorta thought that Canada must have a similar system. Until now. It's like being held up. You have to buy a park pass ($9.50 per person) for each day you are there, and it's cost has nothing to do with a campsite you might stay in, which are expensive. One thing to remember if you're coming, you can buy an annual pass for around $67 each person. If you keep your daily receipts, you can trade them in for the annual if you do so within a 30 day period. Eloise mentioned the $38+ a night one near Banff. It had power only but a great view. Most campgrounds are no hook-ups at all, going for anywhere between 15-28 bucks a night. I had asked if it would be okay to spend the night in a pull-out or large parking area and was told that was strictly forbidden within the park boundaries. That's reasonable, but not the answer I was looking for....
