This was the view out of our windshield at this Thousand Trails park north of Sacramento. Here 22 May to June 6th 2013.
We had a great time here. There is a resident volunteer line dance leader who does a 2 hour session 5 days a week.
Gary dancin’ in front row far right. Why aren’t all the dancers on the same foot as the leader?
We had some great weather the second week here, for lying around on our rafts in the private lake on the resort property. Prior to that it was too chilly for us, and then the Memorial Day weekend happened. We always just kind of hibernate during the major holidays, and let the working class have at it. We did go down to the country dance at the tennis courts and dance to a live band. That was fun. They spread some corn meal around to make dancing a little easier.
This is the round dance cuer for the Golddancers in Grass Valley, CA
We arrived for their 64th anniversary dance. There were six squares attending, 8 to a square.
This was the caller. He was fairly new to calling, but has just been named as the permanent club caller. We were told that this club is the oldest club in California!! I don’t know if that’s true, but is pretty significant if so!!
Gary is helping himself to some just churned homemade ice-cream the Golddancers made. Yum!
Our site wasn’t exactly top drawer, what with the huge rocks and the electric panel, but we were very happy. There was nice shade out where Eloise is sitting. Just over the rise behind her was the swimming pool, and then beyond that was the lake. There were paddle boats, a cruise boat and kayaks and canoes for rent.
We found several fresh strawberry farms and scarfed up on some tasty sweet berries!
This was in a small town environment, but there were still local events like this car show:
1926 Chev “Superior”
Ever seen a Stude Lark Wagon? 1965
Last year of Desoto! 1961 2dr hardtop.
Always neat to see the Cobra with its 427 ci engine!
On the way to our next stop we saw Mt. Shasta to our north, an impressive sight!
All for now, next update couple weeks away! Thanks for coming!
