My sister Betty and her husband Joe had their 50th Anniversary on May 31, 2009. We were delighted to be able to celebrate with them and to see, not only their family but many of my siblings, nieces, nephews, and lots of cousins. The wedding party, except for one who is deceased, were all present. Here they are:
Sister Betty & her husband Joe
Of course at this point in our lives something always happens and it did. Gil, a cousin-in-law got as far as the parking lot and then was whisked away in the ambulance. Cousins Nadine & Eleanor had to then return to Eleanor’s home to pick up medical records before going to the hospital. Unfortunately the distances prevented them from returning.
This is my brother Melvin.
Sister Berneice with a family friend Lori.
These are my Sister Betty's granddaughters Magie & Hannah from Lincoln, NE and the next one is their Dad and mother, Mark & Beckie with Hannah
One of Betty's grandsons Eric. His nephew Gus was taking a nap.
We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet our newest great-niece and nephews. Betty’s daughter Carol recently adopted 3 siblings. They are a real hand full but everyone enjoyed them tremendously. Their uncle Mark was making bubbles for them and they were trying to catch them. I never did get any pictures of Amber sitting still.
Here you may recognize someone. On the right is my husband Gary, on the left my son-in-law Duane. Looks like they were up to some kind of mischief.

The occasion was held in Belton, near Kansas City, MO. We had cousins from KC as well as a large number from around our home town in Sharpsburg, IA.
Sister Betty & my daughter Ginger. We had several fun filled days with Ginger and her daughter Lauren the next week after the party. This is my brother Horace and his wife Betty. She really isn't leaning away from him, she thought if she leaned I wouldn't put her in the picture. Might as well accept it Betty.

The picture below is the kids Mom. She is my neice Carol. I thought I had a picture of her husband Ray but somehow it disappeared. I guess it is with the pictures of Cindy, Adam, Kevin & Patti. They disappeared also. My apologies.

Nephew Greg & Neice Cindy
It had been a long time since we had been home for a visit that included so many family members. Our Dad's family's Reunion is always in July. That worked well for us when he was living but now that he is gone we prefer being in IA in the spring or fall. July is just too hot and humit.
Of course Betty & Joe also had lots of friends attending. They have both retired from teaching careers and therefore have a wide array of friends in their area.
For the family members that weren’t present, I just thought you might like to see those who were there. For those who don’t know my family you may want to just skip this segment of our blog and go on to the next I don't blame you.
